About SpiderLily Web Design
Clean, Custom & Compliant Design
We approach projects with the goal of creating a website that reflects you, your business, and your goals. We prefer to meet with prospective clients before offering a quote — we want to get to know you, and explore what you really hope to accomplish with your online presence, and the most cost-effective solutions. For the convenience of our clients, we are also available to meet after hours and on weekends.
Our designs are custom — no templates here — and we want you to be completely satisfied with our product. We hand-code our HTML and CSS, and verify compliance with W3C standards. We perform cross-browser checks to be certain your site looks good on all the major browsers and versions currently in use, from Internet Explorer to Firefox, Safari to Chrome, Opera and more. We’ll also make sure your site looks good on mobile devices, including the iPhone.
We often hear, “Why not pay $4.95 a month and create my own site using an online template service?” Well, you can . . . but you’ll find that the code used in these templates is not semantic or compliant, and that will hurt your chances of being found by search engines like Google or Yahoo. One such service stated that they “use their own HTML structure” rather than following the W3C guidelines that have largely been adopted by all of the major browsers. The guidelines were established for a reason; sites that validate will be cross-browser compliant, accessible, and visible on mobile devices as well as desktops and tablets (such as the iPad, providing the site does not use Flash).
Experienced
SpiderLily Web Design is based in Poulsbo, Washington, owned by Brian Creamer and Myrna Ougland. Together we have over 10 years’ experience in the web business, launching our own business three years ago. When we’re not working on client sites we’re keeping up to date on the latest in coding practices and SEO via online resources, reference books, industry magazines, and conferences. When we’re not doing that, you’ll probably find us in the garden or in the kitchen.
On Time & On Budget
We welcome challenges, and can almost always accommodate quick turn-arounds and deadlines. When we give you a quote we stand by it, barring change orders and major design alterations. We’ll be here when you need us!
SpiderLily Web Design is a member of the Poulsbo and Bainbridge Chambers of Commerce.
